A Trip To Budrutz

I always enjoy going here when I'm in Jerusalem.

It looks like Sara found something special.  She is taking her time to look at it a little closer.
This is a top I made with Budrutz fabric.  I'm happy to see it hanging in the store.

A Speical Wedding

Renee's daughter Bryna was married this week.  It was the first time in a very long time that Renee had all 9 children together.  This made the wedding so very special.  Mazel Tov to Renee and family.

New String Quilt

I don't know how Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville does it.  She can handle scraps and I am struggling with them.  This is my box of small scraps that I can't throw away.  Anything smaller than these will go into Dogie/Kittie beds.
And this is my box of strips of different widths and lengths.
So I decided to make a new string quilt and now these boxes seem to be more full then before I started.
Now I have to make this again so I will have 2 stars and put on borders, etc.  But it always looks like my scraps have a life of their on and they keep growing.

A Little Counted X Stitch

Renee has been working on this beautiful counted x stitch.  It's been a great deal of work, but the top is finally finished.  Renee's daughter is getting married next week so she will have to finish it after the wedding.  Mazel Tov to Renee and her family on this wonderful simcah.

Grandsons Quilting

Yes, or I should say learning to piece and wanting to make quilts.  It's been a hot summer and these boys want something to do, so it's off to Bubby's house.  This is Moshe Aaron and Yaacov Mendal.

They did a pretty good job for the first time.  I think they will be back again.

Crumb Blocks

I've started making some crumb blocks as Leaders & Enders.  Don't know what I'll do with them yet, but I've got too many scraps and they have to go somewhere.

Grandchildren

I am blessed with many grandchildren.  This month the kids have been out of school and I've had a chance to spend more time with them.
No, it wasn't as bad as it looks.  I'm tired yes, but I had lots of fun. Next week I hope to get back to my sewing.

Quilting Is An Addiction

Just For Fun

I had these 5 1/2" blocks already so I went ahead and made this quilt top.  I really like the way it looks.  Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville would be very proud of me.  It's real scrappy.

Something Different For Me

A friend of Bryna asked if I would make her a quilt using some of her children's clothes.  This was a challenge for me because of all the different types of fabrics.  Every quilt is a learning experience and this certainly was for me.

I decided to make a pocket on the back containing scraps from each piece of clothing.  I used the top of a dress for the pocket.

Design Wall

Some one recently asked me about design walls.  Although I have a large one on a wall, I also use this one below. It's a thick board which I find very helpful.  Flannel is good because the cotton fabric sticks to it nicely without pins. I also use a small one next to my sewing machine for just one block.  It helps a great deal.  Do you use a design wall?

Thank You Letter

We don't get thank you notes very often.  I'd like to share this one with you.
BS”D

My dear friends,
Thank you so much for presenting me with a beautiful quilt and bag for my walker.  I was profoundly touched by your chesed towards me and I want all of you to know that I desperately needed a summer quilt for my bed and to use when I lie on the couch also.  The attachment bag for my walker is so handy for me to use for my phone, glasses, wallet, and other accessories.  I also use it when I go outside and find it very helpful.  I want to give all of you a bracha that Hashem iy”h should bless all of you with lots of good  health, koach, and endurance to continue in all the chesed and good deeds that you all do to help Klal Yisroel  Yasher koach and many thanks again.
All my love,
Esther

Using Up More Leftovers

On the design wall I've come up with another arrangement for left over squares.
