The Hands Are Always Working

While we are having our shiur (lecture) the ladies are always working on something.  We have so much to do and so little time.  It's hard for me to take pictures without disturbing our teacher, but I did get a few pictures taken.

Rina's Making A Kaleidoscope Quilt

Rina is making two Kaleidoscope quilts and brought in one of her blocks to discuss what color to use for sashing strips.  She used white but wasn't happy with it.  A nice fabric selection was placed next to it and what a difference (we didn't get a picture; but, you will see the finished product).  That's why it is so important to introduce other colors when you're not sure.  She hopes eventually that these quilts will end up in her guest room.

A Cat Pin Cushion

This is really cute.  Bracha was busy working at the table when I looked down to see this sweet little pin cushion.  I had to take a second "paws" to look at it.
It's the cat's meow.

A Wonderful Gift

A big thank you goes to Ali at Monkey Hands,
for this wonderful gift of fabric.  I have so many ideas of what I can make with it.  This fabric includes some Kaffe Fassett fabric which I've never bought.  What a treat to have this in my stash.

Renee S Has New Fabric

Renee S brought home some fabric from the States to show us.  We spent some time looking into other colors that would go with the new fabric.  This is always interesting for me.  We did pick out some colors that would brighten up the plaids, so now she will go shopping to see what she can find.
This little panel may make a cute pillow.
A colorful ABC panel will make an adorable child's quilt.
And what to do with these?  I'm sure Renee will come up with something great.

Bryna's Latest Quilt

Bryna has been working on this wonderful quilt that she saw by Mary Johnson at
The top is finished except for the borders.  She found it best to paper piece just the stars.  Bryna said the quilt top went together very nicely.  It's a fantastic quilt and very well done.  Great job Bryna.
This is Mary's quilt.

Sara's Mystery Quilt

Sara has shared her mystery quilt with us; and, it is really something special.  It was a kit but not as easy as one might think.  It certainly is a quilt that any man would love.  It has lots of details so a close look is needed to appreciate this labor of love.  Thanks Sara for sharing.  You did a wonderful job.  Now she is on to quilting it.

Bracha's Owl Quilt

Bracha's Owl quilt is ready for quilting.  Everyone likes the quilt and found it interesting to see its development.  Bracha used 2 sided interfacing which I've never used.  I certainly will use it in the future.
Bracha is also starting another project.  Something I find delightful is when the pattern is picked out and everyone has an opinion or suggestions on what fabrics to use.  Of course, each person makes her own decision; but, the process is enjoyable for everyone.
This is Sara and Bracha working out the measurements.

A Sailboat Quilt

Susan is working on this red, white and blue sailboat quilt for her new great-grandson.  This is perfect for a new little boy.  She has the fabric for the back panel picked out and now she is busy quilting it.  Red, white and blue always reminds me of the ocean and summertime.

Bracha's Tote Bag

Everyone seemed to be making tote bags; so, Bracha decided to make one also.  She used different fabric from the other ladies and was very pleased with the results.  The fabric displays lots of  sewing goodies, that we like, such as needles, scissors and pin cushions. Great job Bracha.

Rina's New Quilt Top

Rina brought in this fantastic quilt top.  I didn't even know she was making it.  It is wonderful.  Everyone went wild over it.  Rina, you did a fantastic job and I'm anxious to see how this will be quilted.
This is back.  The ladies were busy today getting it ready for quilting.

Bryna is also making something very special and different.  She won't let me show it yet but I can tell you it's the Churn Dash and stars in blue and yellow.  Bryna is paper piecing it and I hope she will have it finished soon so I can show it to you.

New Great Grandson for Susan

There is good news from Susan.  They have a new great grandson born this week.  You can hop over to her blog to get a look at this little cutie.  Mazel Tov to Susan and her family.
Susan recently brought in this little wall hanging to show us.  It was a gift from the The Kosher Quilters when she left Baltimore.  This is always such a lovely gift for someone when they must move away.

A Quilt For Chemla

One of our dear friends is in the hospital after an operation.  She's not a quilter, but she does enjoy quilts.  So I made this one for her as quickly as I could.  She loves purple, so I put purple on the borders with some purple on the back.  I hope she will like it.  We wish Chemla a speedy recovery.

Sara's Mystery Quilt

Sara has started to work on a special quilt and won't show it to anyone until it's finished.  Sara said she really is enjoying working on this quilt because each square is a different challenge.  I did manage to get one picture while she was working on it.  We will just have to wait and see the results of this mystery.

It's My Birthday Today

First I'd like to thank everyone for their warm birthday greetings.  I appreciate it very much.  A thank you to my Hubby for taking me out for a delightful meal at a Chinese restaurant.  It's my favorite!  Also a big thank you to my sister Sandy for sending me this fantastic silver bracelet.  The words inside touched my heart. Thank you Sandy!

In case you are unable to read the inscription, it says "Sisters are different flowers from the same garden".  So true.

Bracha's Boat Quilt

Bracha quilted this project with a thick batting and didn't like it.  So, she took it apart and used a flat batting instead.  Here she is sandwiching it again on my table.  I don't know if I would had the ambition to do all this.  It takes allot to rip out all those stitches and start again.  But, a quilter has to be happy with her work; and, Bracha is now much happier that she made the change.  It was worth the extra effort.
