Renee B has been working on this scrappy Broken Dishes for some time now. It's not her fault. I haven't been available to help her with this first time project. She will be hanging this as a curtain in her craft studio and it will be just adorable when completed. I'm so happy that she hasn't given up.
Renee S brought in a finished baby quilt and the first square for her new Dresden Plate quilt. This is her first time piecing and then appliquéing. She bought the scrappy petals on the internet, so there is a huge assortment of fabrics and colors. The black background will really enhance the pattern.
Naomi worked more on her Ohio Star variation. She has added appliqué on the corners. What a terrifc job for a beginner. Also, she made the most adorable blue booties for us to see. There is a 1/2 shekel next to it so you can get an idea of the size. This would be a great size for a new born. By the way, even though the 1/2 shekel looks big it's only worth about 13 cents.

Esther is making a new appliqué. Several of the ladies are now starting to think
"Maybe it's not so hard after all!"
We then discussed several methods of how to appliqué.
Shifra has a new grandson and just finished this new baby quilt in time. It's her first time working with fleece and she tied it around the edges. It came out adorable.
I have a very nice young woman that lives in my apartment building. Her name is Naomi. She has been curious about all the women going in and out of my apartment. She has quite a talented background in sewing. Naomi is originally from Russia and speaks English and Hebrew as well. She asked me to teach her quilting. So, now she is one of us. Naomi brought along a blanket her grandmother made.
Naomi saw a small Ohio Star pillow that I had. She copied it with little instruction from me. She is a natural born quilter!

I didn't have time to catch a picture of everyone with their projects but I did catch one of Shoshana. She is making her first string quilt. These are some of the squares that she has started.
Renee S is making a counted x-stitch bib again. She makes them for everyone's new baby

We had a very busy time at the old Quilting Corner this past week.
Susan brought her hand quilting along again, which she enjoys.
Shifra brought a new knitting project because she is expecting a new grandchild. Also, we all joined in to help Shifra sandwich her first quilt. Everyone grabbed a safety pin and we were finished in no time.
Bryna brought along her sampler. Last year 3 of us made a sampler that was mostly hand pieced and hand appliqued All have been hand quilted. We did the same patterns but each of us used very different fabrics.

Budrutz in Talpiot, Jerusalem has just received their new fabrics from America. It was like shopping in a candy store but not as fattening. I bought only a few of the many that I wanted. When you are in the area, you should stop by. They also now carry rulers, rotary cutters and cutting boards.
